Population Decline - An intergenerational participatory futures project

Futurely is launching a research project to investigate the long-term impacts of population decline, and the policy responses being implemented to address it, on society, technology, economy, ecology, politics, and our way of life. Falling fertility rates and rising life expectancy mean almost every country on the planet could have shrinking populations by the end of the century. But while some see population decline as a threat to human civilization, others see it as a cause for celebration.

Futurely will organize 3 online intergenerational futures workshops for an estimated 50 professionals, public administrators and active members of the public across generations to explore the long-term consequences of population decline, and existing policy responses. Generate transdisciplinary perspectives and solutions. Build futures literacy and an intergenerational fairness lens amongst participants.
